Understanding the Catechism

Monday Evenings

6:00 PM to 7:00 PM

The Catechism of the Catholic Church contains a summary of the teachings of the Church which Catholics are obligated to believe and practice.  On Monday evenings, Father Jim will teach the contents of the Catechism so that the faithful will have a better understanding of the Catholic faith.  All are welcome to attend these classes in Room 3 of the Parish Center.  Please note: there will be a limited number of Catechisms provided for class use; therefore, if you have your own Catechism book, you might want to bring it with you.

THANKSGIVING FOR ALL

SPONSORED BY ST. VINCENT DE PAUL SOCIETY

The St. Vincent de Paul Society needs your help to provide Thanksgiving dinners for families in our area who are unable to purchase the items needed for a traditional Thanksgiving dinner. We give instant mashed potatoes, stuffing mix, gravy mix, canned yams and canned vegetables such as green beans or corn. We include a small box of biscuit mix, fruit cocktail, cranberry sauce and a dessert (brownie or cake mix). We also give a Publix gift card for the purchase of perishable food items. Food donations may be placed in the receptacles provided in the church. Monetary contributions, labeled "SVDP Thanksgiving" may be placed in the collection boxes. To receive a Thanksgiving dinner, call 857-5818 Monday through Thursday from 1:00 to 3:00pm. All calls are confidential.

SEEKING VOLUNTEERS FOR THE GIVING TREE

We are in need of help for the Giving Tree. There are several ways you can assist. Volunteers are needed to register our neighbors in need for gifts for Christmas. This entails meeting with the guests and obtaining the required information. Registrations will take place on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, November 4 through November 20 from 9:00am to 12:00pm.  Additional volunteers are needed for Monday mornings November 24 and December 1 from 8:00am to 9:30am to take the gifts out of the church and sort them. Finally, volunteers are needed to sort all of the gifts and have them prepared for distribution. Final sorting takes place December 2 and December 3 from 9:00am to 2:00pm and distribution is December 6 from 10:00am to 12:00pm.

If you can assist please email Rita Gordon in the parish office at rgordon@saintmichaelchurch.org.

The Knights of Columbus are sponsoring a Blood Drive on Sunday, October 26 from 7:30am to 12:30pm in the parish parking lot. Donors are required to present a photo ID, and will receive a wellness checkup and a gift. Donors must be at least 17 years old and in good health.

COATS FOR KIDS ~ Sponsored by the Knights of Columbus

On October 25th and October 26th, members of the Knights of Columbus will be at the doors after all Masses collecting monetary donations for COATS FOR KIDS. New coats will be purchased with the donations.

Please make checks payable to K of C Council #10377.

COATS FOR KIDS provides coats for under privileged children from 3 schools in our area: Gulf Highlands Elementary, Shady Hills Elementary and the Hudson School Community Resource Center.

***This is a Monetary Only Collection. Please do not drop off coats to the office or the receptacles in the church.***
