Sacraments

"The Sacraments are the maniestation of the Father's tenderness and love towards each of us."   -Pope Francis-

The sacraments are “efficacious signs of grace, instituted by Christ and entrusted to the Church, by which divine life is dispensed to us” (Catechism of the Catholic Church 1131). In other words, a sacrament is a sacred and visible sign that is instituted by Jesus to give us grace, an undeserved gift from God.

The Catholic Church has seven sacraments which are divided into three categories: Sacraments of Initiation, Sacraments of Healing, and Sacraments of Service.

There are three Sacraments of Initiation: Baptism, Eucharist, and Confirmation.  All three of these sacraments are required for an individual to be fully initiated into the Catholic Church.

There are two Sacraments of Healing: Reconciliation and the Sacrament of the Sick.  These sacraments bring us spiritual healing through the forgiveness of our sins.

There are two Sacraments of Service: Matrimony and Holy Orders.  These sacraments call us to a vocation of service for the Church and the world.
